NEW: MOFIX biofilm process for biological sewage treatmentWhat does MOFIX mean?MOFIX (MOving bed + FIXed bed) is a process combining both biofilm technologies.
A special feature of this application is the denitrification in a moving bed as first process step. Here random media is used as biofilm carrier. In the second step the final BOD reduction is carried out by a submerged fixed bed, followed by an intermediate clarifier which eliminates excess sludge. Now the nitrification reactor follows, consisting of a 2-3-stage cascade equipped with BIOdek® fixed beds. A final clarifier removes solids before the water exits.
GEA 2H fills and lamella clarifier in the MOFIX processThe MOFIX process is run with GEA 2H fills BIOdek® and lamella clarifiers TUBEdek®
Moving BedThe denitrification reactor is equipped with GEA 2H Random Media BCN. A special agitator mixes the water and the random media. Although moving slowly, the agitator develops a high stirring power with only low shearing forces, thus conserving the biofilm on the carriers.
Fixed bed
SedimentationIntermediate and final clarification are equipped with GEA 2H TUBEdek® tube settlers. An efficient sludge removal is achieved by the chevron shaped equidistant TUBEdek® channels giving a multiplication of sedimentation area in a small volume even with high recirculation rates.
